Entrepreneurship is typically defined as the process of identifying an opportunity and creating a new business to profit from it. Although this definition is accurate, it is also limiting. I will argue that the entrepreneurial spirit should be applied to more than just the creation of a new enterprise. A characteristic which separates talented entrepreneurs from others is they never stop. People like Bill Gates, Jack Ma, and other are constantly pursuing new endeavors. When they have achieved one goal, they find a new challenge and pursue it.
Creating a new business and feverishly nurturing it is exciting! Exploring unchartered territory, originating new products and services, and finding new ways to service grateful underserved clientele is what being an entrepreneur is all about. What happens to that excitement once we have built our business? Operating your own business is very time consuming; your work never seems to be done. Emails, calls, texts, skype, and join.me meetings have you constantly occupied, which leaves you with little time to search for and develop new opportunities. You are forced into a limited role; the creator is now a caretaker and your entrepreneurial spirit dies or weakens as you go through the motions.
