Customers expect tasks to get done when they ask for them. They will not accept excuses, even if you have repeatedly attempted to get something done and failed. Unfortunately, we all must rely on team members, technology, policies or procedures and sometimes things just don’t turn out as we intended. The key is to ensure that we always go above and beyond expecations for customers to develop great relationships.
In my decades of experience as an Entrepreneur and Customer Relations professional, I have learnt from past errors and I now track tasks as well appointments on my smartphone. Sometimes I will simply use the old school notebook which is nice for jotting down ideas. Nothing impresses a client more than demonstrating your level of attention by starting a call or meeting with a debrief of what you have done for them since the last time you talked or met. Then follow-up with a small survey or poll to ensure that you are meeting their expectations.
